Job summary
The Director, Market Access (U.S.) will identify and develop working relationships with key decision makers for the medical policies development, reimbursement and product access at targeted National and Regional plans within the assigned geography. This includes pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), managed care organizations (MCOs), state Medicaid, hospitals, integrated delivery networks (IDNs), federal accounts, accountable care organizations (ACOs) and other organizations as appropriate.
This individual will place themselves in a position to influence the decision-making process at all levels, including Directors of Pharmacy, Medical Directors, Clinical and Policy personnel, and C-Suite executives. This position will utilize account development and management to achieve key objectives for Orchard and its portfolio of gene therapy products.
The Director, Market Access (U.S.) will be responsible for implementing short and long-term business initiatives to ensure appropriate coverage, coding, and reimbursement within the specific managed market segments. Cross-functional leadership and collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders is an essential element of this role.
Requirements
Key Elements and Responsibilities
Required knowledge
· Demonstrated knowledge of payer decision making for policy, coverage, coding, and patient access for innovative therapies
· Expert level understanding of reimbursement process, specifically the medical benefit and inpatient infusion capabilities within public and private plans
· Experience launching premium priced, rare disease products in the U.S. market, cell and gene therapy experience preferred
· Over 10 years of progressive experience with national and regional account management within both commercial (private) and government (public) payer systems, particularly state Medicaid
· Experience negotiating and executing commercial and Medicaid contracts, cell and gene therapy contracting experience preferred.
· In-depth understanding of disciplines critical for the successful commercialization of biotechnology (e.g., marketing, sales, market access, reimbursement, patient services)
· Experience in a fast paced, dynamic start-up biotech environment working across a matrix organization effectively and efficiently deploying limited resources

Education
Bachelor’s degree in a related business or scientific discipline. MBA preferred.

This position requires extensive travel (50%+) and a preference to reside within the assigned geography
