Join our team and make a positive impact on the lives of others! We are looking for a Medical Assistant for our Physician Practice team.

This is a hybrid role that requires a regularly scheduled commute/travel to our main office in New Hyde Park, NY and/or the FreedomCare hub closest to you.

Department & Position Overview

The Medical Assistant supports FreedomCare Med in providing quality patient care through various clinical tasks and occasional administrative duties. This role is integral to ensuring smooth patient flow and optimal clinic operations, whether during in-person visits or through virtual medical care. The Medical Assistant collaborates closely with clinical providers, patients, and administrative staff to enhance the patient's experience and improve care delivery. 

Every Day You Will:

• Welcome and assist patients during in-person and virtual visits, ensuring a comfortable and efficient experience
• Prepare patients for examination, take vital signs, and accurately document patient information in the electronic health record (EHR) system
• Collect and document patient histories and conduct medication reconciliation at the time of, or prior to, visits 
• Assist in managing chronic disease patients, ensuring they follow their care plans and receive timely follow-ups
• Provide technical support to patients and providers during virtual visits, resolving any issues that arise 
• Educate patients about procedures, medications, and health maintenance
• Follow clinician orders for lab work referrals, ensure proper lab results are documented in the EMR, and follow up with patients as directed 
• Follow up with patients after sick visits or treatment to check on their progress and ensure they are adhering to their care plans
• Ensure all patient interactions and clinical procedures are accurately documented

Ideal Candidate Will Possess:

• 3+ year as a Medical Assistant within a physician practice   
• Proficient in electronic health record systems  
• Proficient in Microsoft Suite  
• Excellent written, and verbal communication skills  
• Ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively  
• Strong communication skills; empathetic and puts the patient’s needs first  
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking; able to troubleshoot and investigate when in need of the right solution 

Nice-to-Have

• Telehealth experience 
• Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish
