About the role

LG2 Environmental Solutions (LG2) provides a wide range of quality, responsive environmental services across the United States. Their capabilities include archaeological and cultural resource assessments (terrestrial and underwater), natural resource assessment, and management.

LG2 is seeking an on-call Archaeological Field Technician to join our team. This hourly position offers competitive pay based on your CRM experience in North America.

  • Location: Area Surrounding Ouachita Forest in Arkansas
  • Schedule: 30 working days (10 days on, 4 days off)
  • Start Date: Mid-November
  • Per Diem and Lodging provided

Important Note: This position is subject to a drug and alcohol testing policy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in various phases of fieldwork, including Phase I, II, III, site reconnaissance, and archaeological monitoring.
  • Apply knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations, and policies regarding the preservation and management of historic and cultural resources.
  • Utilize Munsell color charts and understand soil texture descriptions.
  • Follow basic archaeological field and laboratory procedures.
  • Navigate using a compass and accurately pace distances in meters.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate field documentation, including field notes, shovel test forms, maps, site forms, artifact bags, and tags.
  • Conduct daily quality control of field data to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Minimum Requirements

  • SOI Qualified OR 5+ Year Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in diverse terrains and environments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Potential to obtain a government security clearance if required for specific projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited field school or relevant volunteer experience in archaeological investigations; additional CRM experience is a plus.
