CDL Driver & Crane Operator/ Field Liaison

Description

Under the supervision of the Logistics Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that all deliveries and pickups are handled safely, timely and professionally. You are also responsible for ensuring that company vehicles are always in compliance with the Company’s safety standards prior to operating the vehicle, ensuring that all Company, state, and federal regulations are always adhered to while operating the vehicle, and complete daily mileage and fuel logs as well as daily inspection reports to ensure that any vehicle defects are reported and repaired in a timely manner. Must have the ability to operate a crane.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Perform complete pre- and post-operation inspection of the vehicle in accordance with Company policy to ensure tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls are in proper working order. Report any safety issues on standard reports. Keep truck and trailers clean and crane in optimal functionality.

2. Safely operate the truck along the designated route. Double check Dot Travel information for weather or construction road closures.

3. Operate manual and/or automatic controls in accordance with Company safety policies and procedures to lift and load components and supplies.

4. Courteously interact and communicate effectively with all customers, management and team members on a daily basis to ensure all deliveries are made in a timely and professional manner.

5. Continuously monitor the condition of the vehicle to ensure it is operationally ready at all times to minimize down time. Inspect and maintain trucks to ensure they are in good working condition

6. Complete required daily reports and maintain accurate and up-to-date mileage logs, records, and receipts.

7. Follow all required safety policies and procedures. Follow all traffic laws and regulations and maintain a safe driving record.

8. Assist with loading and unloading items from the truck and trailer ensuring proper handling of all items (with or without the use of a crane) and accompanying paperwork.

Requirements

Education: A high school education or equivalent is required. Must be able to read, write and speak English and can work with and understand printed forms and documents.

Experience: Prior experience in the building industry or customer service is desirable, but not required. One year of prior experience driving heavy commercial trucks.

Skills: Good customer service skills to meet and exceed customer expectations; acts in a professional, courteous, and cooperative manner toward customers and co-workers; works with a sense of honesty and trustworthiness.

Physical: Must be able to meet the physical and mental demands described here to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. 

Must be safety minded, drug free, organized & able to communicate.

Must be able to see and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Must be able to move frequently, stand, walk, climb, bend, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, throw, pull, reach overhead, and sit. The employee is frequently required to use hands to touch, handle, and feel, and to reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs/23kg and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100lbs/45kg.

Other: Requires Class A driver’s license with a clean driving record

Must be over 21 or over

Must obtain and maintain a medical card.

Must be able to maintain positive, professional relationships with customers and co-workers.

Must be able to understand and follow instructions, both verbal and written.

Must be able to organize and prioritize the workload assigned.

Must be a self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision to complete assigned projects.

Must maintain regular and consistent attendance record. 

Essential Physical Tasks: This position requires constant lifting, bending, reaching, stacking, standing and other physical demands.
