Our people division is growing, and we are looking for a Senior Metallurgist to join our Golden Sunlight team in Whitehall, MT. The successful candidate will be instrumental in supporting the operations and metallurgy groups at our flotation plant, which processes sulfur-rich tailings to produce a sulfide concentrate that is shipped to the NGM Roasters in Carlin, NV. This role requires strong problem-solving and analytical skills, as well as the ability to take initiative in identifying and driving process improvements and metallurgical projects.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Work closely with operations and maintenance supervision along with other outside departments to ensure safe functionality of the plant operation and maintaining of equipment
  • Work on projects through all aspects of experimental design, engineering, forecasting, funding, construction, and commissioning
  • Provide technical assistance and analysis to process group stakeholders
  • Assist in monitoring and maintaining KPIs for process performance
  • Support metallurgical projects and testing, and interpret results to improve recovery rates and plant efficiency
  • Work with computers and associated programs like Excel, PowerPoint, PI, and RtDuet to monitor circuit trends, forecast production and consumables, and identify improvement opportunities
  • Assist in leading trials and developing operating strategies to optimize grind, flotation, and filtration processes
  • Contribute to promoting a culture of continuous improvement
  • Support compliance with safety and environmental regulations within the metallurgical team
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent Process-related degree required
  • 5-8 years experience in process development and optimization preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in supervision preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Projects, Outlook) required
  • Experience operating/troubleshooting laboratory instruments (AA, LECO, XRF) preferred
  • Working knowledge of bulk flotation methods and hydrometallurgy preferred
  • Knowledge of the principles and methods used in metallurgical and processing analyses required
  • Ability to research, analyze information and draw conclusions, take action to troubleshoot and resolve operational issues from an operating plan status required
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills required
  • Ability to perform the essential functions of this role required
