The Data and Analytics (DNA) team at Pure Storage (Pure) is looking for a Data Strategy and Governance Manager to help Pure harness the potential of our immense data assets to optimize business operations and enable smarter decision-making. In this highly-visible role, this individual will work closely with the Director of Data Strategy and Governance to execute critical data governance and management strategies and lead the implementation of supporting processes, tools, and organization. This role will initially focus on implementing a robust, scalable, and effective master data management program with subsequent growth in other areas of data strategy and governance. As the spearhead of the MDM initiative, they will document different stakeholders’ business requirements and pain points for master data, work with the technology in developing solution ingredients, collaborate with said stakeholders in defining and prioritizing MDM capabilities, and create an iterative implementation approach and timeline for DNA’s MDM solution that incorporates existing IT processes and also enhances partnership with other business organizations. 

Responsibilities

  • Support the Director of Data Strategy and Governance in leading the design and implementation of master data solutions, including requirements, development, and testing across multiple data domains
  • Collaborate with various functional teams to develop an in-depth understanding of master data and align on data strategies, processes, policies, and controls
  • Lead and conduct workshops/sessions with multiple business & IT teams and data users like analytics teams, to document their business requirements, pain points, and business benefit for master data
  • Organize data governance council meetings to present the pain points, the high-level solution involving master data, and process changes necessary to implement the end-to-end resolution of pain points
  • Work with the business and IT teams to conduct source system analysis and data profiling for lifecycle management and define and prioritize the MDM capabilities to be developed.
  • Assist in the review and approval of the detailed functional design, system requirements, and test case documents
  • Help build and implement business processes and governance models that unlock the full potential of the MDM application 
  • Coordinate with members of the data community to document master data flows, lineage, catalogs, standards, procedures, and other materials to improve data literacy
  • Create an agile & iterative approach for the data management program, which can blend with existing processes of the IT org and also enhance partnerships with business org 
  • Manage, monitor, and communicate project progress across program stakeholders, business teams, and the Data Governance Council. 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BRING TO THIS ROLE...

  • 8+ years of direct work experience in enterprise data projects, with at least two years of direct experience in the implementation of a leading MDM tool suite 
  • Ideally experienced in leading consulting organization that helps clients in the implementation of Data Strategy & Governance 
  • Intimate knowledge of Customer, Product, Material, and Supplier core data domain
