As a Sample Blender for a process gas chromatograph manufacturer, you will apply your organizational skills to maintaining/organize chemical inventories, Lean 6S to optimize work processes and analytical skills to create custom synthetic chemical mixtures of both gases and liquids utilized to test our MAXUM II process gas chromatograph (PGC) for validating compliance with customer specifications.  The successful candidate will additionally quality check PGC column materials through gas chromatography testing and support custom production of gas chromatograph separation columns to meet customer requirements. 

 

 

In this role you will  

 

1. Follow on-job safety requirements/procedures 

2. Interact with PGC Methods Development chemists and Final Test Engineering technicians  

3. Prepare/mix hazardous chemicals via volumetric/gravimetric means into appropriate containers to produce quantitative synthetic mixtures for on time usage by Methods Development and Production teams. 

4. Actively manage/maintain laboratory chemical and cylinder inventories including 

a. Requisitioning new/replacement chemicals using Infor LN MRP system 

b. Managing/requisitioning compressed pure and custom mix gases and their cylinders 

c. Work with Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) team to manage/dispose of accumulated hazardous chemicals 

5. Assist in standardization of work processes  

6. Effectively identify problems as they occur and takes appropriate steps to solve them 

7. Follow Lean 6S system for the position’s workspaces 

 

This role reports to the Analytical Methods Development manager.   

Geographical scope: Houston, TX (Jersey Village) area with <2% travel.    

Typical minimum relevant experience required: 0-3 years
