Summary:

Reporting to the Executive Director of Human Resources, the Associate Human Resources Coordinator focuses on a variety of HR functions, specifically benefits and training.


 

Job Description:

  • Provides benefits counseling to members of the campus community, maintains an open-door policy, and delivers timely and courteous service.

  • Conducts benefits orientation for new employees, offering a comprehensive overview of benefit options, eligibility requirements, and enrollment procedures, while introducing the organizational culture and collaborating with team members to ensure a strong onboarding experience.

  • Assists with providing retirement guidance to employees, including generating estimated annuity reports and offering counseling on retirement options to help employees make informed decisions; and ensures the retirement paperwork is finalized and mailed in a timely manner upon retirement.

  • Assists with the timely processing of benefits forms (e.g., health, retirement, life insurance); and coordinates benefits-related events, including the annual Open Season Benefits Fair.

  • Serves as the University’s liaison to insurance carriers and the Office of Personnel Management on all benefits-related matters.

  • Communicates updates about the University’s benefits programs through email, the website, and workshops; and coordinates training to highlight various employee benefits and perks.

  • Supports the enhancement of wellness benefits and incentive programs to promote employee well-being; researches and advises on programs that support employee motivation and morale; and assists in implementing new initiatives as needed.

  • Investigates and analyzes benefit options; recommends changes to the University's benefits offerings; and participates in periodic benefits surveys to ensure competitiveness.

  • Stays current on laws and regulations related to employee benefits and ensures their timely implementation.

  • Coordinates the Employee Assistance Program and other well-being initiatives; and maintains current reference materials and resources.

  • Collaborates with team members to conduct exit interviews as part of the offboarding process; and provides counseling on the disposition of the benefits upon separation.

  • Assists in delivering training to Gallaudet employees on a range of topics, including but not limited to employee benefits.

  • Supports the Family Medical Leave Act and DC Paid Family Leave processes, parental leave program, and other leave initiatives on an as-needed basis.

  • Serves as a Notary Public for the University community.

  • Establishes and maintains a positive and supportive working relationship with co-workers and supervisors.

  • Demonstrates a commitment to belonging in the workplace; and participates in ongoing learning and engagement opportunities.

  • Acts as a mandatory Title IX reporter and completes annual Title IX training in compliance with University policy.

  • Prioritizes safety in the workplace as a collective responsibility for the well-being of employees and fosters a culture of safety that is integral to our success, including strict adherence to safety procedures and protocols, as well as promptly reporting any safety hazards or incidents.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
