Job purpose
The Corporate Systems Software Engineering/Development manager is a hands-on role in a full-stack environment to develop cost effective solutions for business demands related to Global IT systems, applications and data. They will lead other development engineers within BorgWarner and external partners to build solutions based on the BorgWarner architecture and technology stack.
Key responsibilities
- Develop software solutions that meet customer expectations, are focused on customer experiences and interfaces, align within our architecture and technology stacks and move us strategically forward.
- Identify gaps within the O365 Governance model and work with the team in finding solutions.
- Improve technical expertise through the identification of new solutions, processes and technical alternatives.
- Strategize and align with our Business Relationship Managers (business-facing analysts), Enterprise and Solution Architects, Enterprise Data and Analytics and Infrastructure teams to design and build solutions to meet customer needs and align within our technology stacks.
- Analyze functional and non-functional requirements and translate them to reliable and cost-effective solutions that would encompass all elements including: Application layers, Integration, data collection, BI, Infrastructure dependency and assess technical feasibility.
- Lead design reviews with architects to ensure compliance of the proposed detailed design by service providers or internal development teams.
- Provide strategies and solutions to automate business processes.
- Grow and develop the corporate software development team.
- Initiate and deliver technology evaluations and recommendations with initiating POCs as needed. For example: process automation (RPA), employee collaboration portals (like SharePoint), document management systems, Cloud and SAAS systems that enable employees’ productivity.
What we’re looking for
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent proven hands-on industry experience
- Very deep hands-on experience with Microsoft Productivity Solutions, and creating solutions within SharePoint or O365
- Strong software development and integration skills with a clear track record of delivering to customer expectations
- Ability to understand new technology and drive the successful implementation and adoption of new technology tools
- Ability and desire to solve complex software problems
- Strong customer relationship skills, with ability to understand translate and define complex business requirements and recommend viable solutions
- 3+ years experience directly leading a software development team, either as an anchor engineer or development supervisor in an Agile process environment
- Proven experience and knowledge in the following technologies:
- SharePoint On-Prem (2019) and Online(O365) with configuration, implementation and deployment
- SharePoint Tools (e.g. Metalogix, AvePoint, Sharegate, etc.)
- Power Automate, Power Apps, Flow, Forms, Visual Studio, complex workflows and RPA
- SharePoint Designer, PowerShell scripting, InfoPath and Nintex
- JS, .NET, Java
- Web and Mobile technologies (i.e. HTML5, JavaScript frameworks - Bootstrap, Angular, jQuery, React, SQL, C#, CSS, XSL/XML)
- Business Process Automation
- Azure Administration.
- Enthusiastic team player, with strong communication and presentation skills to all levels of the business and IT
- Fluent in business and technology English, written and verbal
- Manufacturing or automotive experience is a plus
