Teck Alaska Incorporated, Red Dog Operations, one of the world's largest producers of zinc concentrate, is recruiting for an Administrative Assistant.
Rotation schedule will be 2 weeks on-site with 2 weeks off-site, year-round, project specific with expected end date of October 31, 2026.
To be successful in this role, we require someone with outstanding interpersonal, communication and organizational skills. The candidate should have general office administration skills as well as travel booking experience for remote camp work.
Reporting to the AAAR Construction Manager or Exploration Manager
Responsibilities:
• Fully embrace Teck’s core values. One way this is demonstrated is by attending and actively participating in daily safety meetings
• Coordination of Project personnel, inclusive of contractors, with RDO, billeting and travel by preparing travel requests and maintain schedules for personnel associated with the exploration programs. Keep program management informed of schedule conflicts or changes to the schedule
• Manage and report room assignments for all AAAR and AAEP project personnel, Exploration personnel and contractors between Construction Camp and Tent Camp
• Attend and prepare minutes for scheduled twice monthly progress and performance meetings. Performs similarly for ad hoc meetings as required
• Track drilling consumable inventory and notify appropriate personnel when purchase of additional inventory is required
• Order and coordinate supplies from the Red Dog Mine warehouse. Submit stock supply requests, transportation vouchers, and coordinate pickup of supplies as necessary
• Receive exploration office telephone calls and transfer calls or relay clear messages to supervisors
• Support other office tasks as requested by supervisor
• Help maintain good housekeeping around office areas
• Work effectively with a large, diverse team, and maintain a safe and respectful workplace
• Support for the Health & Safety team with administrative processes and tracking
• Support field systems such as GPS updates and file loading
• Tracking and reporting of site assets for the project
• Filing of site reports, photos and other documentation
• Coordination of site transportation of project personnel & contractors with RDO
• Driving pick-up truck for project needs, including transportation of personnel & contractors
• Support community observers
• Implementation of PDG Administration standards
• Formatting documents in line with Teck branding and PDG standards
• Strong integration with Project Administration Lead
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent, post secondary education preferred
• Minimum of five (5) years of work experience
• Valid driver’s license
• Work experience specifically with Indigenous communities and/or organizations or in a natural resources industry in Alaska is an asset
• File management (Windows and SharePoint), spreadsheet (MS Excel), and word processing (MS Word) skills sufficient to efficiently store and retrieve files, prepare, and maintain personnel schedules, and prepare daily reports with minimal supervision
• Ability to arrange travel and order supplies in GenCID with minimal training
• Excellent written and verbal communication and influencing skills
• Familiarity with an exploration drilling program and construction support is a strong asset
