Our Automation & Digitalization division is currently seeking a Sr. Electrical Power Systems Engineer (Protection & Controls) to join our team in any of our US locations. Preferred locations would be Alpharetta, GA, Pensacola, FL, Eugene, OR, or Muncy, PA.
The Sr. Electrical Power Systems Engineer (Protection & Controls) is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of protection and control systems for electrical power systems. This includes ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of power distribution and generation systems. Applicant will also participate in all aspects of HV and MV substation design as well as MV distributions designs within industrial facilities.

Responsibilities may include but are not necessarily limited to the following:
- Develop protection and control system designs based on project requirements and specifications.
- Design relay protection schemes, control systems, and automation solutions for electrical substations and power generation facilities.
- Design HV and MV substations.Design MV installations within industrial facilities.
- Specify and select appropriate protection relays, control devices, and other equipment needed for the protection and control system.
- Specify and select appropriate HV and MV equipment such as circuit breakers, transformers, disconnects, surge arrestors, and switchgear lineups.
- Develop and implement protection and control logic using various programming languages and tools.
- Configure and program intelligent electronic devices (IEDs) such as relays and PLCs.
- Conduct testing and commissioning activities to ensure the proper functioning of protection and control systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues during the testing phase.
- Create detailed engineering documentation, including design drawings, specifications, and manuals.
- Maintain accurate records of all changes made to the protection and control systems.
- Work closely with other engineering disciplines, project managers, and field personnel to ensure seamless integration of power systems designs into overall project designs.
- Ensure that protection and control systems comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.
- Stay updated on changes in regulations affecting power systems.
- Provide training and support to operations and maintenance teams regarding the use and troubleshooting of protection and control systems.
When selecting candidates, we will be looking for the following essential skills, abilities, and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in electrical engineering, or a related field;
- Minimum of 10 years’ in industrial electrical power system design;
- Strong knowledge of power systems, protection relays, and control systems;
