As the Manufacturing Engineering Director you will be primarily responsible for the production equipment and processes to support commercial and non-commercial products within Maple Grove Plant Operations.  This leader will own and drive the technical continuous improvement culture to deliver high quality processes, VIP savings, and product cost reductions. The Director of Manufacturing Engineering will focus on the identification, development, and implementation of strategic initiatives, enhancing divisional partnerships, and developing the talent of the engineering team. This role will report to the site's Vice President of Operations and work in partnership with the Maple Grove Senior Leadership team, as well as the franchise/division leaders that the plant supports.

 

Your Responsibilities Include

  • Identifies and communicates department vision, new strategies and projects for the improvement of key business metrics.
  • Provides guidance and training to staff, assists subordinates in attaining career goals, motivates individuals to achieve results, and recruits and maintains a high quality staff.
  • Identifies and champions improvement and functional excellence initiatives.
  • Identifies future technology and intellectual property critical to future business growth and drives implementation.  Active participant in the due diligence process.
  • Develops and ensures budgets and schedules meet corporate requirement.
  • Drives new processing technologies that are designed for manufacturability.
  • Utilizes extensive internal contacts across BSC, external contacts, and industry specialists.
  • Partners with and influences other functions to ensure common short and long-term business goals and strategies.
  • Champions the sharing and leveraging of initiatives, processes, and accomplishments across the divisions/plants.
  • Responsible for succession planning and the development and implementation of retention strategies.
  • Proactively reviews future technologies and plans needed resources with appropriate technical skills either through external search or training to prepare.
  • Leads site in Strategic Activity Review (STAR), Value Improvement Process (VIP), and Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA).

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 10+ years of related functional and leadership experience within the Manufacturing/Operations space
  • 5+ years of direct managerial experience leading large and diverse teams across a highly matrixed organization
  • Medical device or related industry experience

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • Master's degree
  • Senior executive presence, comfortable presenting and collaborating with Senior Leaders as a Business Advisor
  • Ability to successfully manage and execute multiple, large scale projects using established project management tools and processes.
  • Demonstrated capability in collaborating and partnering within a complex and matrix global distribution and manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated high degree of integrity, professionalism, and ability to establish credibility
  • High sense of urgency and commitment to execution
  • Experience in the medical device industry, or other highly regulated field
