Primary Duties and Responsibilities (Not to exceed 20)
• Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards.
• Consistently serves as an ambassador and role model of University of Miami Health System’s SPIRIT values to all associates, vendors, patients, ancillary contacts and others. Upholds the highest level of customer and employee service and satisfaction. Maintains a professional demeanor at all times and is a strong representative for the University of Miami Health System.
• Creation of a supply chain value proposition that achieves best market pricing, implements effective user friendly supply chain processes, maximizes the use of technology, enhances practitioner work flow and provides University of Miami Health System a competitive advantage in the marketplace.
• Establishes a vision, guiding/operating principles and team commitment to a vendor contracting strategy and processes that result in a comprehensive University of Miami Health System contract portfolio that provides coverage for the majority of University of Miami Health System’s supply and services expenditures, minimizes risk and direct purchases and assists operating entities in achieving their supply and service budgetary requirements.
• Develops, leads and implements a vendor and group purchasing relationship strategy that maximizes University of Miami Health System’s leverage in the market place, maintains a benchmark level of performance, ensures incentive alignment, and gains the supplier’s commitment to leverage their capabilities on University of Miami Health System’s behalf and to make University of Miami Health System "best demonstrated practice"
• Engages University of Miami Health System’s employed and independent physicians to provide resource utilization and cost data and to present opportunities to leverage the value University of Miami Health System receives from the vendors of resource intensive physician preference implants and devices. Provides credible price benchmark data and develops contracting strategies that gain physician support and buy-in.
• Provides leadership to the University of Miami Health System’s supply chain information and spend analytics functions, including the effective implementation, deployment and optimization of the PeopleSoft enterprise resource planning system, mobile supply chain and automated dispensing technologies.

• Project participation and capital acquisition strategy development – serves as member of design teams and provide input for major construction projects. Work with executives and operational leaders to assist with acquisition of resource intensive and technologically advanced capital equipment to ensure University of Miami Health System remains current and achieves a market competitive total cost of ownership with the latest clinical technologies.
• Participates as the University of Miami Health System’s supply chain representative in industry peer and work groups to promote supply chain requirements and drive industry standards for integrated delivery networks. Networks with industry peers and remains abreast of emerging industry trends, new technology developments, legislative changes and other improvements in the healthcare supply chain
• Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings, serves on committees and represents the University of Miami Health System in community outreach efforts as appropriate.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
NO PATIENT CARE/CONTACT: Visual Acuity. Manual dexterity. Light physical effort: Physical mobility with ability to lift, push or pull up to and including 15 lbs. Walking, standing, sitting for prolonged periods. Ability to hear and orally communicate. Ability to read, comprehend and write the English language.
Working Conditions
• May be required to travel to various locations as needed. Reliable transportation may be required.
