Northrop Grumman is currently seeking an Inspector – Level 3 to join our team at our Elkton, Maryland location.

The Northrop Grumman Propulsion Systems and Controls (PS&C) facility in Elkton, Maryland began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. Today, the Elkton PS&C facility designs, develops, and produces solid-propellant propulsion and ordnance systems in programs professionally managed for a wide variety of Government and commercial customers. The facility also serves as the hub for offsite engineering and test facilities in Ronkonkoma, NY and Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

Elkton, Maryland is located on the Upper Chesapeake Bay, midway between Philadelphia and Baltimore. Description:

  • Perform mechanical or electronic inspection on manufactured/purchased components and assemblies.
  • Visually inspect for defects.  Verify parts or materials meet specifications indicated. 
  • Create inspection reports as needed from drawings or inspection plans.
  • Perform mathematical calculations to ensure compliance to inspection criteria.
  • Perform first article inspections from the Machine Shop.  Perform in-process inspections, electronic/mechanical inspection and electrical testing on subassemblies and final assemblies in the production area.
  • Operate Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), using PC-DMIS software, including development and maintenance of programs, set up and execution.
  • Be flexible in work skills and daily tasks assigned.

Basic Qualifications Inspector 2:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and at least 2 years of related experience.
  • Safety oriented and willing to work with complex mechanical components.
  • Ability to program and operate Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), using PC-DMIS software, including development and maintenance of programs, set up and execution.
  • Strong math (trigonometry, and geometry) skills.
  • Strong computer skills i.e. Office, Quality systems, Inventory etc.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and knowledgeable of geometric dimensioning and tolerances.
  • Must be able to interact and assist with Manufacturing and Engineering personnel regarding part conformance and process capability.
  • Skilled in using standard measuring equipment to perform manual inspections ( calipers, height gages, Inside micrometers, outside micrometers).
  • Must be detailed oriented and able to accurately follow written specifications.
  • Willing to work overtime hours as needed.
  • Ability to obtain a United States Government Secret security clearance, for which US citizenship is a prerequisite.

Basic Qualifications Inspector 3:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and at least 4 years of related experience.
  • Safety oriented and willing to work with complex mechanical components.
  • Ability to program and operate Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), using PC-DMIS software, including development and maintenance of programs, set up and execution.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience performing mechanical inspections.
  • Strong math (trigonometry, and geometry) skills.
  • Strong computer skills i.e. Office,
