Job Description

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated staff geotechnical and/or civil engineer to support mine tailings storage facility and heavy civil infrastructure design and analysis as part of the Mining group in Reno, NV.

Job Summary/ Responsibilities:

  • Performs specific and moderate portions of broader assignments

  • Plans, directs and performs specific and/or moderate portions of mid- to large, complex projects under the supervision of an experienced senior engineer.

  • Plans, implements, performs and oversees geotechnical exploration and laboratory testing programs (30% travel/field time)

  • Plans, oversees and performs geotechnical evaluations including material characterization, liquefaction, seepage, slope stability, and settlement analyses

  • Prepares and reviews calculation packages

  • Assisting with the development of geotechnical reports, drawings and specifications

  • Preparing and presenting technical presentations of evaluation results to internal and client teams

  • Review of geotechnical instrumentation and preparation of instrumentation monitoring reports

Qualifications

Min Requirements

  • BA/BS + 4 yrs of relevant experience or combination of demonstrated experience and/or education.

  • EIT Certification

  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications

  • MA/MS Civil Engineering with Geotechnical Emphasis

  • 6+ years of relevant experience

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License or ability to obtain within 1 year

  • Proficient in the use of industry software such as GeoStudio, Utexas, Grapher and AutoCAD Civil3D

  • Field/Construction experience; tailings or dams experience a plus

  • Familiarity with and preparing design reports, drawings and specifications

  • Excellent Verbal and written communication skills

  • Demonstrate proactive problem-solving skills

  • Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment

  • Exhibits initiative, responsibility and flexibility

  • Resourceful, highly organized, and detail oriented

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines

  • Effective time-management and interpersonal Skills

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Additional Information

  • Relocation is not available for this position. 
  • Sponsorship may be available for this role. 
  • Project site travel required (up to 30%)
  • Offered rate of compensation (Nevada locations only) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $80,000 to $105,000
