Maintenance Supervisor

 

Purpose of the role

Real Alloy is currently seeking a qualified Maintenance Supervisor at our secondary metal processing plant in Wabash, Indiana.  This position will manage all plant maintenance activities including preventative maintenance, trouble shooting and repairing issues.  In addition this role will sustain and improve planning and procurement functions required to efficiently sustain and improve plant equipment following guidelines of all safety, environmental, governmental policies and regulations, and other Real Alloy policies.

 

This is a 2-2 3-2-2-3 rotating schedule for 12 hour shifts 6p-6a.  

 

Core Accountabilities

 

  • Oversee equipment, maintenance schedules, advise on downtime requirements and review breakdown vs. scheduled maintenance work, report-out monthly statistics  
  • Monitor and participate in control of maintenance budgets.
  • Recommend and manage new projects and cost reductions.
  • Champion preventive maintenance program and ensure work order completion and preventive maintenance effectiveness.
  • Conduct plant walk around to identify and analyze corrective and preventive maintenance, modification and surveillance activities and to provide input for refining and improving work package quality.
  • Interface and collaborate with Purchasing, Operations and Maintenance Planning to identify and resolve work issues.
  • Facilitate package preparation by preparing and / or submitting, plant impairments, Hot work permits, Fire impairments, operability impact statements, and regulatory documentation.
  • Verify work instructions are adequate and comply with all applicable procedures.
  • Participate in work control planning feedback / craft interface time, detailed contract, requisition reviews, complex troubleshooting.
  • Create, Initiate and maintain work schedules to expedite work-flow and minimize need for overtime.
  • Develop individual team members to maximum potential through effective training and identification and utilization of skills and capabilities.
  • Ensure complete communication and understanding of work activities to work group.
  • Provide appropriate resources to aid work group in maximum achievement of work activities.
  • Solicit technical help as needed to support the return to operation of equipment as timely as possible.
  • Ensure maximum uptime performance of all production centers in the plant through efficient use of available resources and according to production planning priorities.

Qualifications

Maintenance Supervisor

 

Supervise and direct hourly maintenance workers on a continuing basis also the ability to lead and influence subordinates and peers through coaching and behavior modeling by being clear, open, fair, honest, involving others in decisions that affect them, providing constructive feedback, supplying resources as needed and listening effectively.

  • Associate degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school plus five to eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft office products with strong emphasis in Excel.  Experience with Oracle preferred.
  • Background with manufacturing methods, process improvement programs and procedures required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as work orders, safety rules, procedure manuals, blueprints, operating and maintenance instructions and specifications, etc.
  • Knowledge and experience with natural gas furnace and gas combustion systems, bag house and environmental equipment, refractory, mobile equipment, PLC's and electrical.
  • Necessitates excellent interpersonal, planning, organizing, time management, and computer skills and effective oral and written communication skills.
