Job Summary

The Senior Manager of Finance’s primary responsibilities include maintaining the general ledger, posting entries, and closing activities while supporting the Global finance team with the budget/forecast, analysis and light treasury functions as needed. The work will primarily support CLIA Global but will also support some duties relating to the CLIA regional offices. 


Essential Job Functions

  • Maintain the general ledger and support with closing activities to ensure accounting policy alignment with accuracy and timeliness reporting. 
  • Assist with the planning and responsible for document preparation and assembly for the annual financial statement audit. 
  • Assist with budget preparation by producing supporting documentation and justification for proposed budget items and provide regular reports and reconciliations of budgets and forecasts. 
  • Support the monthly forecast process by participating in the forecast meetings with budget owners and analyzing financial data among actual, forecast and budget. 
  • Reconcile monthly accounts and prepare journal entries for the following accounts but not limited to prepaid expenses, fixed assets, right-of-use assets, lease liabilities, investment accounts, current expected credit losses and dues funding. 
  • Partner with the Director of Accounting and others, as needed, within the organization to analyze and reconcile accounts for the regional offices. 
  • Research accounting issues and be updated on accounting standards for compliance with GAAP. 
  • Assist with system management and system audit for quality control including but not limited to Aptify, Intacct, Vena, Nexonia and Tipalti. 
  • Serve as a thought partner to the Finance Team regarding efficiency, best practices, and appropriate internal controls. 
  • Assist with treasury functions as needed. 
  • Assist with special projects as needed. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting with at least 5 years’ experience required 
  • Public accounting/audit experience preferred 
  • International non-profit trade association experience highly desirable 
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred 

Qualifications:

  • A working knowledge of Sage Intacct software, Aptify database, Microsoft Office suite software. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
  • Strong analytic skills with both tactical and strategic abilities; a good problem-solver and results-oriented. 
  • Demonstrated people skills necessary to coordinate the flow of information to and from staff who possess varying degrees of financial and program experience. 
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities simultaneously, strong time management and project management skills. 

Work Environment

This position is based in our DC office as part of a hybrid work environment.  


Physical Requirements 

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 

Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
