JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

University Health Services , a division of Student Affairs, is seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist to join our team. The Physical Therapist will provide high-quality physical therapy services and learning opportunities and will be responsible for the treatment of physical therapy patients. This position is a 40-hour-per-week role from mid-August through mid-May.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and treat a wide variety of patients with orthopedic, neurological, and vestibular injuries.

  • Develop goals and treatment plans for each patient, and communicate with physicians and physical therapist assistants to coordinate care.

  • Implement treatments using manual therapy, education, modalities, and exercise based on physiological states and tissue healing principles.

  • Provide education throughout each visit, including recommendations for activities outside of PT and general health and wellness principles.

  • Document all patient care activities and note changes to the patient plan of care.

  • Appropriately charge for services provided and complete progress reports every 30 days or as needed.

  • Ensure proper use, care, and maintenance of equipment, and uphold safety standards.

  • Serve as a Clinical Instructor for Physical Therapy Students from accredited schools.

  • Supervise and train physical therapy volunteers and students, and oversee student service learning hours.

  • Complete recommendations for graduate schools.

  • Design and complete quality improvement initiatives, and present in-service programs.

  • Stay current with developments in physical therapy by attending clinics, seminars, and meetings, and researching topics to improve patient care and practice standards.

Qualifications:

This position will be filled as an advanced or senior professional-level position. The advanced professional level requires a bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience.  Additional education and/or experience are required for high-level positions. Licensure as a Physical Therapist required.

  • Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check

This is a 75% full-time equivalency (FTE) job. Months off are mid-May to mid-August. Full Penn State benefits are included.
