As a Business Solutions Architect at BNY, you’ll lead the design and delivery of end-to-end technology solutions that translate strategic business goals into scalable, secure, and cost-effective architectures. You’ll partner with product owners, IT teams, and business stakeholders to spark innovation, optimize processes, and ensure our solutions “Be More for our Clients,” “Run our Company Better,” and “Power our Culture.”

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

    • Elicit and document business requirements; define target-state architectures that balance functionality, performance, security, and cost
    • Create solution blueprints, roadmaps, and integration patterns aligned to BNY’s enterprise architecture standards (specifically, seeking someone who understands Investment Accounting, Investment Data Management, and Performance Measurement)
  • Stakeholder Collaboration
    • Engage with business leaders, product managers, and technology teams to build consensus around architectural approaches
    • Translate complex technical concepts into clear business value and ROI for executive audiences
  • Governance & Best Practices
    • Enforce architecture governance, compliance, and security policies throughout the project lifecycle
    • Identify technical risk, dependencies, and mitigation strategies; drive decisions through architecture review boards
  • Implementation Support
    • Guide development teams on best-fit technologies, API design, data modeling, and infrastructure patterns
    • Perform design reviews, proof-of-concepts, and feasibility assessments; troubleshoot critical issues in production
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Capture lessons learned and drive a culture of “Own It” and “Stay Curious” by proposing platform enhancements, reusable frameworks, and automation
    • Mentor junior architects and engineers; share knowledge through brown-bags and design guilds

To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field
  • 7-10 years of IT experience, with at least 3 years in a solution- or enterprise-architecture role
  • Deep understanding of cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP), microservices, API management, and integration technologies
  • Proven track record designing large-scale, multi-tiered applications in financial services or similarly regulated industries
  • Strong facilitation skills—comfortable leading workshops, architecture reviews, and steering-committee presentations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; able to tailor messaging from hands-on engineers to senior executives

Preferred Skills

  • TOGAF, Zachman, or equivalent architecture framework certification
  • Experience with Agile (Scrum/Kanban) and DevOps practices (CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code)
  • Familiarity with data platforms (streaming, data lakes, analytics) and modern UI/UX frameworks
  • Knowledge of security controls (IAM, encryption, audit logging) and regulatory requirements (SOX, GDPR, CFTC)
