Description

General Definition:

  • Responsible for accurately timing workouts each morning.

Essential Job Functions:       

  • Supervises Clocking staff
  • Maintains book of each horse registered markings for identification
  • Inputs daily work out details in computer
  • Generates workout report, makes copies, and distributes to appropriate personnel.
  • Notifies ambulance & other appropriate parties when an accident occurs on the track
  • Coordinates the Workout Rule and first time starters for entries with appropriate personnel.
  • Approve first-time starters around the turn and updates list
  • All other duties as assigned by management.
  • Transmits to the Stewards all complaints, protests, objections, or disputes.
  • Assists, as required, in the daily operation of the racing office.
  • All other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and 3 years related experience and/or training; or combination.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be knowledgeable of the Rules of Racing.
  • Responsible for fostering a fun environment.
  • Responsible for being gracious to all guests and co-workers.
  • Responsible for promoting a positive influence in the community and participating in company-sponsored events.
  • Enthusiastically supports, actively promotes and demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with department and company standards and programs.
  •  Ensures that behavior and appearance are in compliance with established standards.
  • Maintains a professional work environment with management and staff
  • Able to work at a fast pace in often crowded/noisy environment
  • Excellent customer service/communication skills
  • Must meet professional appearance standards as prescribed by company policy.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to read and communicate verbally in English.
  • Written communication skills in English may also be required.

Training:

  • 3 year work related experience and/or training; or combination.

Licenses/Certifications/Other

  • Must be able to pass a background check and receive a license or permit from any Regulatory Agency, if applicable to perform the essential job functions
  • Texas Racing Commission License (TXRC)
