Surgical Technologist – Team Lead

The Surgical Technologist Team Lead provides care of patients as a surgical technologist/technician. Provides leadership by working cooperatively with ancillary nursing and other personnel in maintaining standards for profession practice in the clinical setting. Evaluates and improves the quality, consistency and efficiency of the assigned specialty and contributes to the education and collaborative goals of Baptist Health Paducah.

Job Description

• Assessment and identification of patient needs, implementation of appropriate interventions, delegation of surgical technician/technologist care duties and supervision as needed
• Assures that surgical tech care interventions and activities are directed to resolve problems and preform technical aspects of care competently (aseptic technique, safe equipment operation, patient positioning and patient and staff safety).
• Serve as technical resource person, maintain adequate and appropriate inventories of supplies, and evaluate new products/procedures.
• Demonstrate reporting skills, problem solving skills, communication skills, computer literacy, time management, interpersonal skills and team building skills.

Requirements

• Surgical Technologists must graduate from a Surgical Technologist program or have comparable military training.
• Certification is required.
• Must have good written and verbal skills; must frequently work under pressure.
• Must be able to follow instructions explicitly as not to compromise patient care.
• Must demonstrate good leadership qualities.
