Job Description

About the role:

This position will be part of a global team of Engineers, responsible for providing technical support and project management for hot and cold repair projects, including scoping, estimating, design, construction and start-up.  You will provide operational and maintenance support for the systems applicable to the plant facilities and participate in very significant projects.

Also, you will:

  • Perform and report on furnace audits and campaign life assessments.  Follow-up with necessary hot repair documentation, solutions to issues, and supervision of repairs.
  • Be responsible for scoping, estimating, procurement and follow-up of design and repair projects.
  • Scoping, estimating, design, selection, inspection, and construction supervision of furnace cold or hot repairs with minimal oversight. 
  • Production of furnace refractory design drawings, specifications and Bill of Material
  • Supervision of internal and external engineering staff for the aforementioned areas.
  • Collaborate with Mechanical, Structural, Electrical and Process Control engineering as required.
  • Required to support ongoing development and proper use of cold and hot repair standards.
  • Provide feedback to Global Furnace Team and other disciplines for improvement of design, construction practices, material standards, etc.
  • Expected to provide input into decisions with potentially significant financial impacts to the business.
  • Provide direction as required to aide in decision making related to the scope, schedule, cost and risk assessment for projects as part of business case development and validation

Travel Requirements:

40% USD and Canadian travel (if required)

Qualifications

About you:

  • You love glass and care about sustainability and the planet

  • You have Bachelor’s Degree in Ceramic/Material Science Engineering preferred.  Mechanical or Civil-Structural Engineering or equivalent knowledge and/or experiences will be considered.
  • 5+ years of experience in glass furnace and refractory design, construction, audits or hot repairs
  • You're familiar with AutoCAD drawing creation and specification creation
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 Tools
  • You’re a good communicator with strong ability to be proactive and show initiative.
  • Good team player

Additional Information

What we offer:

Salary Range:  The expected salary range for this position is between 65,000 and 91,100 USD.  Actual pay will be adjusted based upon candidate experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
