Position Information:
NWHSU is seeking a Science Lab Coordinator to join our Undergraduate Sciences program. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the set-up, maintenance, and sanitation of materials for undergraduate chemistry, biology, and physics laboratory sessions. We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual who will play a vital role in ensuring smooth operations of the labs, supporting students, and maintaining a safe and efficient environment.
This is a part-time, benefits eligible position, working 20 hours per week.
Work Location: Bloomington, MN in person
Duties:
- Setup/cleanup of laboratory experiments
- Cleanup and maintenance for both teaching and prep lab space
- Ordering supplies
- Instrument maintenance
- Preparation of solutions, biological cultures, etc.
- Support for in-person and online lab offerings in various capacities
- Supervision of student workers as needed
- Manage safety equipment and practices for compliance with government regulations
- Manage the collection and disposal of hazardous waste materials
What you need to have?
- Bachelor's in microbiology, biochemistry, chemistry or related chemistry/biology/clinically related field
- 0-2 years experience working independently in a lab setting (for example, working as a lab TA in an undergraduate setting)
- Knowledge and experience of typical biochemistry/microbiology lab content, preferred
- Knowledge regarding the use of instruments typical to these labs, preferred
