Research Assistant I

Summary

The Texas Heart Institute at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a Research Assistant to support the Cardiovascular Surgery Research program within the Heart Center. Under the direction of the principal investigator, the Research Assistant will provide support during animal surgeries for biomedical devices such as artificial hearts, LVAD, and electrophysiology devices.

Job Duties

• Performs animal laboratory experiments under the direction of the lab director and principal investigator.
• Supports instrument and equipment maintenance/sterilization.
• Reviews relevant scientific literature and summarize findings.
• Records results and document outcomes of experiments in accordance with established protocols.
• Provides supervision of animals in conjunction with Center for Comparative Medicine staff.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or a related field.
• Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in a related field.
• Experience in a surgical setting is desired.
