APRN/PA Orthopedic Trauma Opportunity w/ UofL Health

UofL Health /UofL Health Physicians Group is seeking a dedicated and skilled Orthopedic Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive orthopedic care in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, managing clinic post-op care, and offering hospital consults for our Level 1 Trauma Center and affiliated hospitals.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide post-operative care in clinic, including patient evaluations, follow-ups, and wound care.
Conduct hospital consults for orthopedic patients in trauma and inpatient settings.
Collaborate with orthopedic surgeons and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.
Follow-up with patients 2-3 days post discharge.
FT/Monday-Friday.

Job Description:

    • Assesses the physical and psychosocial status of clients by means of interview, health history, physical examination and diagnostic studies for both inpatient and outpatient services.
    • Recognizes deviations from normal in the physical assessment. Works in collaboration with a physician in formulating treatment plans for health problems and follow-up.
    • Manage specialty clinic
    • Writes prescriptions for medication, blood tests, routine diagnostic and follow-up studies and therapeutic measures.
    • Requests written consultation from physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure appropriate and quality patient care.
    • Interprets and evaluates findings of studies/tests.
    • Relays appropriate information regarding patient care to the collaborating physician.
    • Evaluates the quality of care provided and recommends changes for improvement.
    • Initiates appropriate actions to facilitate the implementation of therapeutic plans that are consistent with the continuing healthcare needs of the patient.
    • Participates in multidisciplinary conference and ensures appropriate, quality care.
    • Provides symptom management for side effects related to oncologic treatment.
    • Assist with admissions.
    • Works both collaboratively and independently.
    • Maintains oversight of survivorship program and survivorship clinic. 
    • Shares clinical expertise with professional and supportive personnel.
    • Documents and reports care in an accurate, timely manner.
    • Works effectively with others. Collaborates with other health disciplines to ensure continuity and quality of care.
    • Promotes evidenced-based nursing practice/research by participating in clinical research and leading efforts in scientific inquiry.
    • Varied schedule
    • Mutually agreed upon call schedule
    • Assist in the Operation Room when necessary
    • Maintains professional certification in specialty area; attends and participates in national, regional, and/or local educational conferences.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    • Maintains compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct
    • Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times
    • Performs other duties as assigned

    Education:

    • Master of Nursing degree from an accredited institution. 

    Licensure:

    • Current licensure in state of Kentucky as an APRN.

    Certification:

    • National certification as an Adult Nurse Practitioner, Emergency Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner, or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner
    • Current DEA certificate without restriction
    • Current BLS
    • Must be ACLS Certified
