Job Description

Develop safe robot solutions

In recent years, Lely has launched several new robot solutions and we have built a reputation as a highly innovative and reliable supplier to dairy farmers. In our Product Development department, we design these robot solutions, ranging from fully autonomous feeding robots to milking robots and more. We are responsible for both the concept design of new product generations and the lifecycle management of the robots.

Our robots operate in an environment where people, robots and animals work and live side by side. At Lely, identifying and eliminating or controlling safety risks in order to prevent damage to people, animals and the environment is therefore essential. Due to the complexity of our innovative products, safety is a system-level property embedded in the product.
To strengthen our systems engineering team, we are looking for a Senior System Safety & Compliance Engineer who focuses on integrating Safety & Compliance into the design of the product, taking into account the entire life cycle of the product. In this role you work closely with our Safety & Compliance department and the product specialists from various engineering disciplines. By working on several projects at the same time, you develop into the "go-to person" for engineers who need advice and knowledge about Lely safety standards and solutions. Further:

• Support your engineers in identifying potential security risks and compliance challenges during the concept phase;
• You are responsible for the identification and integration of system security requirements in accordance with European and international standards and regulations;
• Ensure the verification and validation of these system security requirements.

Qualifications

• Completed education (BSc or MSc) in safety engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or related technical discipline;
• At least 7 years of work experience with safety techniques in the product development of machines or robots for the global market;
• A good understanding of the application of the CE marking process, and relevant European and North American regulations;
• Able to quickly master applicable standards and experience in effectively applying international standards (ISO, UL, CSA);
• A holistic mindset, understanding how different components can work together;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, Dutch is a plus.
