About the Role

We’re looking for a highly skilled and experienced Director/Sr Director of Engineering to lead and oversee initiatives in our engineering department. The leader will add to our passion for delivering an innovative, world-class product that makes our customers successful and gives them joy along the way. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in shaping the technical direction of the company, managing multiple initiatives, and iterating quickly to solve customer demands. The leader has an eye for high quality code, best practices & industry standards, and takes pride/ownership of whatever feature, product or codebase they’re working on. In this position the candidate will work closely with the Leadership, Engineers, Vendors, Product Managers, and stakeholders to execute on the product roadmap in effort to address business and customer needs. The role requires both hands on engineering and mentorship.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

Leadership and Team Management:

• Provide strong leadership and mentorship to a team of engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  
• Recruit, onboard, and retain top engineering talent.
• Set clear performance expectations and provide regular feedback and performance evaluations.
• Deliver on OKRs, Project deadlines, and innovate on new ideas.

Technical Strategy and Expertise:

• Define and execute the company's technical roadmap.
• Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to guide technical decisions.
• Be a strong and positive influence on testing, code quality, security, scalability, and iterative speed.
• Strongly preferred familiarity with NodeJS, Typescript, Javascript, PostgreSQL, ReactJS, ReactNative, Cloud Technologies, Scalable/High-Availability Systems, and Agile Methodologies.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Collaborate closely with product management, design, and other departments to ensure alignment on product goals and deliverables
• Flexible working times to guide teams in multiple time zones

Risk Management:

• Identify and mitigate technical risks that could impact project timelines or quality.
• Implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans as necessary.
• Engage in the entire product delivery lifecycle

What You Will Need

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in a leadership role within a software engineering organization.
• Demonstrated ability to manage and lead engineering teams effectively.
• Project management experience, with a track record of delivering complex technical projects on time and within budget.
• Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Budget management and resource allocation experience.
• A commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive engineering culture.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture and design principles utilizing cloud native technologies.
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and etc.
• Proven experience in leading and managing teams of engineers on large-scale projects.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and tools (e.g., Scrum, JIRA).
