Join Phillips 66 as a Senior Engineer I, Process Safety supporting safe, reliable, and compliant operations across Refining, Midstream, and Capital Projects. This position provides specialized engineering expertise to strengthen process safety programs, drive continuous improvement, and ensure effective risk management while partnering with technical experts and operating teams across the company.

 

What You'll Do

  • Coordinate company-wide Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Management of Change (MOC), and Incident Investigation programs to support compliance with OSHA Process Safety Management requirements.
  • Develop and maintain process safety guidance, standards, and risk evaluation methodologies that promote effective safeguards and cost-effective risk reduction.
  • Partner with technical subject matter experts to improve MOC workflows, incident investigation practices, and risk assessment processes.
  • Analyze process safety data, identify trends, communicate improvement opportunities, and develop metrics that support operational excellence.
  • Lead and facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) for business units and capital projects while ensuring consistency, quality, and alignment with company process safety strategies.
  • Administer and enhance process safety software platforms and drive continuous process improvements.
  • Support training initiatives and user adoption of process safety programs and tools.
  • Manage small to medium-scale initiatives that advance process safety performance and business objectives.
  • Participate in industry forums and committees to identify leading practices and implement relevant learnings across Phillips 66 operations.

 

What You'll Bring – Required

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • 6 or more years of process industry experience in process engineering, process safety, or related discipline
  • 1 or more years of leading Process Hazard Analyses (PHA)
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time
  • Possess a valid driver's license

 

What Makes You Stand Out – Preferred

  • Certified PHA/LOPA Facilitator with Phillips 66 facilitation experience
  • Working knowledge of Phillips 66 Process Safety and HSE Management Systems standards
  • Broad knowledge of industry codes and regulations such as API, PSM, RMP, ASTM, and ASME
  • Experience with refinery, gas plant, pipeline, terminal, or capital project operations
  • Proficiency with PHAPro, Sphera ARA, VisiumKMS, and ThinkReliability Cause Mapping software
  • Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analyses
  • Knowledge of consequence modeling tools such as PHAST
  • Expertise in process units such as HF Alkylation, Fluid Catalytic Cracking, Coker, or Hydroprocessing
  • Strong risk identification, relationship-building, and influence skills
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex technical issues, develop engineering solutions, and support implementation of process safety improvements
  • Experience developing, applying, and improving engineering standards, specifications, and compliance programs
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, communicate effectively, and collaborate across diverse stakeholder groups

 

Compensation Range 

This position has a base salary range of $140,400- $171,600.
