The Data Center and Energy BU's purpose is to engineer a decarbonized, cleaner, and a more sustainable electrified future. Developing solutions for the digitized grid, renewable energy generation, energy storage, EV charging infrastructure, smart meters and electrified powertrain, the group supports customers with break-through technology to convert, manage, and store electrical power.
We have several openings for key positions within the group.
The Role
The Staff Mechanical Engineer will lead the design and delivery of mechanical solutions for various whole product designs in key areas of the energy ecosystem that convert, manage and store energy. These include data center systems such asAC-to-DC converters, inverters, as well as grid-side equipment such as energy meters, EV supply equipment (EV chargers), grid-tied inverters, energy storage systems, and renewable energy equipment. The role requires a flexible and highly skilled mechanical engineer with expertise in multi-board designs, thermal analysis, and enclosure or industrial design while possessing strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Work with electronics engineers to design multi-board systems, conduct stress analysis, and ensure sufficient mechanical load handling to avoid performance degradations
- Model and analyze thermal design to ensure sufficient thermal performance.
- Design cooling system including cold plates and full enclosures, engineering fluid and air flows
- Build and test mechanical systems prototypes in cooperation with electronics engineers.
Requirements
Strong candidates will have the following experience and qualifications:
- Minimum BS in Mechanical Engineering and 11+ years of progressive experience in mechanical systems design from concept to test and release
- Knowledge and experience in mechanical and thermal modelling and stress analysis using tools such as Ansys, SolidWorks, etc.
- Experience in designing experiments, testing and integration in the lab
- Experience in automotive systems and functional safety is highly desired.

- Strong problem-solving skills with an ability to understand and clearly articulate technical issues.
- Demonstrated team player, excellent communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to multi-task, handling several projects in parallel
- Enjoys working in a dynamic environment in fast-growing markets, and openly embraces working with others, including across groups, and actively seeks to do so.
- Ability to travel for customer and partner meetings as required.
