ABOUT THE JOB
The ACLU seeks applicants for the full-time position of Business Intelligence Analyst, CRM & Fundraising Data in the Analytics Department of the ACLU’s National office in New York, NY. This is a hybrid role that has in-office requirements of two (2) days per week or eight (8) days per month.
The ACLU Technology Department provides trusted, dependable, and impactful analytics, engineering and product design and management expertise for the ACLU. In partnership with experts across the ACLU, the technology team delivers best-in-class solutions, services, and innovation that advance the ACLU mission and organizational priorities.
ACLU Analytics, a division of the Technology team, partners with teams across the organization to enable the ACLU to make smart, evidence-based decisions and bring quantitative insights on our issues to the courtroom and the public. Our team's work ranges from social science research for litigation & advocacy, to analysis & reporting for fundraising and engagement, to building and maintaining our data infrastructure. We strive to ensure the ACLU leads by example in the ethical use of data and technology. This includes maintaining our privacy and security standards, pushing for transparent data practices from government and corporate actors, and helping to steward high standards for algorithmic fairness, accountability, and transparency
This position is part of a collective bargaining unit. It is represented by ACLU Staff United (ASU).
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Reporting to the Director of Engagement Analytics, the Business Intelligence Analyst, CRM & Fundraising Data will be focused on the reporting, analysis, and business intelligence of our fundraising & supporter data, and instrumental in our work to migrate our CRM (customer relationship management) technology. This includes building dashboards, creating analysis to generate insights and recommendations, and deploying solutions to help the ACLU identify meaningful insights, inform strategic decisions, and enhance engagement with donors and supporters.
YOUR DAY TO DAY
You will be part of the Engagement Analytics team, and work with team members across the broader Technology team, as well as partners in our Fundraising, Digital, Marketing, and Communications teams. You will work with our CRM technology and constituent and fundraising data to build out business logic, reports, and visualization for business users. Below is a sampling of projects you can expect to dive into:
- Documentation of current fundraising reporting, and requirements gathering for improvements.
- Building dbt reporting models and Tableau data sources based on new CRM data.
- Building dashboards end-to-end from wireframes to completion.
- Working closely with our Analytics Engineering team to support data modeling for reporting and analysis.
- Designing metrics for our supporters’ engagement based on fundraising data.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- Direct experience working with CRM technologies & data (e.g., Salesforce, Blackbaud) and building reports with that data.
- Proficiency with dashboarding/reporting tools (e.g., Tableau)
- Fluency with databases and database query languages (e.g., SQL)
- Experience with ETL solutions (dbt)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with non-profit or political campaign fundraising data
- Experience with a CRM or other database migration
- Knowledge of basic U/X and design principles
- Familiarity with an analytics programming language (e.g., R, Python) to perform data manipulation tasks and analysis.

COMPENSATION
