Description

Speech-Language Pathologist Clinical Fellow

Join our dynamic Early Education team as a Speech-Language Pathologist Clinical Fellow. We provide essential special needs services to children aged 3-5 across Orange, Rockland, and Westchester Counties.  Our nurturing and enriching program celebrates the diverse needs of every child, fostering cognitive, social, and physical growth through developmentally appropriate play experiences.  We are committed to creating a safe and supportive environment where each child can thrive and build self-esteem.

As a Speech-Language Pathologist Clinical Fellow in our preschool program (under the supervision of a licensed speech-language pathologist), you will play a vital role in assessing and treating young children with speech, feeding and language delays or disorders.  You will use engaging, play-based activities to develop crucial early communication skills, including expressive, receptive and pragmatic language. You will work closely with other providers, parents and teachers to support each child's overall development within the classroom setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments to identify speech and language delays or disorders in preschool children.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans using play-based activities.
  • Provide direct therapy to children, targeting specific communication goals.
  • Monitor and document children's progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed.
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, and other professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to care.
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Participates in the Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) and Committee on Special Education (CSE) processes, including evaluations, Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, and implementation of IEPs.
  • Maintains thorough documentation and adheres to all applicable preschool regulations, licensing requirements, and program policies.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Eligible for Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY).
  • New York State Teaching Certificate: Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD)
  • Strong understanding of child development and strength based, evidence based, play-based therapy techniques.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
