About the role
Datavail is seeking a senior-level db2 LUW database administrator to support our client base in a managed services environment, both on-prem and in the cloud
- Responsibilities:
Experience with planning, documenting and performing upgrades and migration, setting up new database environments on db2 LUW v11.5, v12.1, and db2 RDS - Design and plan upgrade strategies on a mix of db2 environments including TSM, Pacemaker, and both on-prem and db2 RDS in AWS
- Support Application Developers in designing, implementing and testing database changes to support business applications as needed by our clients
- Assist developers in SQL development, performance analysis and indexe recommendations using a variety of tools such as db2 explain
- Assist with pro-active and advisory DBA services with our db2 portfolio of clients
- Support Database Administrators and Systems Administrators during patching of operating systems and database systems
- Assist with documentation/SOP development and mentoring offshore administrators
- Ability to work during non-business hours including weekends and holidays, as needed
- Minimum Qualifications:
Ten (10) years of experience in IT, working as a db2 LUW Database Administrator - Five (5) years' experience with managed service consulting and working in a multi-client environment
- Five (5) years' experience as a Database Administrator on DB2 LUW
- Three (3) years' experience with Red Hat's Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
- Three (3) years' experience with at least one cloud technology such as Azure or AWS
- Three (3) years' of experience with shell scripting
- Preferred Qualifications:
Three (3) years of experience with cloud-native db2 on AWS RDS - Experience with db2 z/OS to db2 LUW migrations
- Experience with db2 migrations to/from other DBMS's such as Oracle or SQL Server
- Professional certification from at least one cloud provider (ie. AWS Certified Solution Architect)
- DB2 certifications from IBM and/or IDUG
- Prior IBM-related work experience
