Concordia University full-time faculty fulfill the university's mission to help students develop in mind, body, and spirit for service to Christ in the Church and the world via teaching, scholarship and service. Concordia University faculty are active scholars in their academic disciplines and participate in the life of the university via curriculum development, academic program assessment, and other activities that support student recruitment, retention and engagement. All Concordia faculty are expected to demonstrate excellence in college-level teaching.
The Academic Fieldwork Coordinator (AFWC) is a core faculty member in the OTD program, and manages and administers program compliance with the fieldwork requirements of ACOTE Standards Section C.1.0. This position receives a 24-credit administrative release in order to fulfill fieldwork oversight responsibilities. This is an on-ground position, requiring weekly campus attendance in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
Academic Fieldwork Coordinator (AFWC):
- The AFWC is responsible for securing and managing fieldwork placements and courses including but not limited to the following:
- Ensures compliance with fieldwork requirements according to ACOTE standards Section C.
- Coordinating fieldwork placements for students in the OTD program.
- Complete site visits for potential and active fieldwork sites.
- Completing midterm visits for students engaged in Level II fieldwork placements.
- Mentoring/advising students with focus on professional behavior development.
- Teaching fieldwork related courses
- Collaborating with faculty to support application of students' learned skills through simulation, virtual, faculty-led, community-based, and on-site experiences
- Oversee fieldwork administrative assistant.
- Update and obtain new capstone contracts/MOU as needed for all student placements.
- Oversight of software implementation for fieldwork placements.
- Collaborate with OT faculty, academic fieldwork coordinator, and program chair concerning fieldwork and student issues.
- Attend Michigan Occupational Therapy Education Consortium (MOTEC) meetings.
- Attend AOTA academic leadership meeting (ALC) bi-annually along with the annual conference to keep abreast of capstone issues and network with other academic fieldwork coordinators at the ALC.
Full-time ranked OTD Faculty:
- Teach classes as assigned, including but not limited to fieldwork-related courses.
- Conduct peer-reviewed scholarship/research as described in the Concordia University faculty handbook.
- Provide service to the department, school and university as described in the Concordia University faculty handbook.
- Collaborate with faculty in various healthcare disciplines within the School of Health Professions, as well as the campus at large.
- Attend departmental, school, and university wide faculty meetings.
- Attend opening ceremony, graduation, faculty retreat and other CU gatherings as requested by administration.
- Maintain proficiency in technology for student teaching and interaction including Microsoft office, databases, and web interaction including the CU designated learning management system.
- Prepare and maintain an annual calendar in Outlook with recurring deadlines.
- Maintain membership in a Christian congregation.
- Other duties as assigned.
