Within CO&I, the Datacenter Engineering (DCE) team is responsible for delivering core datacenter infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. This DCE Principal Design Manager position will fulfill an on-site role at Microsoft’s Mt Pleasant Racine County, Wisconsin datacenter campus supporting ongoing construction activities. This role will serve as a daily on-site presence to review progress of multiple concurrent datacenter builds. The position will be responsible for monitoring progress for compliance with construction documents from initial stages through commissioning. This role will work closely with the datacenter engineering and construction teams to support multi-discipline coordination, issue identification and resolution, and continuous improvement efforts. The successful candidate will be responsible for the ongoing documentation of project learnings for incorporation into future designs.
The Datacenter Engineering Principle Design Manager will manage the engineering scope, schedule, and budget for greenfield, brownfield and retrofit engineering / design projects. This position will manage internal and external resources for the delivery of the Datacenter building, power, cooling, telecom, and controls infrastructure to align with Microsoft Corporation datacenter capacity roadmap for the Americas.
The Datacenter Engineering Principle Design Manager will be responsible for the facilitation and delivery of Microsoft’s industry-leading datacenter designs including the development of innovative technology and advanced concepts from Site Due Diligence through design development, permitting, construction, and the turnover to Operations. This role will provide design management, technical direction, decision-making and overall leadership for our datacenter designs. To be successful in this role the candidate will oversee the delivery of multiple, concurrent, complete Datacenter design solutions aligned with the scopes, schedules, and budgets of the projects. The Datacenter Engineering Principle Design Manager will engage with key MS stakeholder groups within Microsoft as well as outside vendors who specialize in datacenter architecture and engineering.

Responsibilities
- Coordinate a team of architects, engineers and designers and deliver projects aligned with the defined scope, schedule, and budget.
- Possess a high level of proficiency in commercial and industrial architecture and engineering with a primary focus on datacenter design.
- Ability to work with other technical and non-technical groups in a fast-paced environment and do so with an even temperament.

Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree AND 6+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product developmen
