JOB TITLE: Data Scientist, Statistician

JOB DUTIES: Develop or apply mathematical or statistical theory and methods to collect, organize, interpret, and summarize numerical data to provide usable information. Prepare data for processing by organizing information, checking for inaccuracies, and adjusting and weighting the raw data. Determine whether statistical methods are appropriate. Develop, support, and maintain the current Experience StudySAS/Power Pivot Analytical/Reporting interface needed to produce reports/analytics for the assumption development process. Work with different LTC actuarial functional areas to promote consistency and standardization of data elements, business rules and resolve any experience study related data issues. Support the current Experience Study Database environment. Support the project initiative to modernize the Experience Study environment into a GreenPlum database environment. Assist with the streamlining and automation of the Experience Study processes using Genworth’s standard technological tools. Research data issues and reporting of key metrics using SQL, SAS, PowerBI and other tools. Maintain and execute SOX controls to ensure the data used in studies is complete and accurate. Conduct technical/peer reviews of assumption development work. Provide ad hoc analytical support for strategic initiatives and internal/external customer data requests. Collaborate with other LTC Actuarial functional areas on all projects as needed.

SALARY: $135,000 / year

WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time, 40 hours/week, Mon – Fri 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Computer Science, or related and five (5) years of experience in the job offered, as Actuarial Manager, Assistant Manager, Actuarial Consultant, Business Analyst, or related. In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, employer will accept additional two (2) years of experience in the job offered or related. Must have five (5) years of experience with each of the following: LTC insurance administration systems and data; Excel Programming; SQL Programming including Oracle and Greenplum; Business Intelligence tools including PowerQuery, Tableau, and Spotfire; Actuarial Experience Studies, Actuarial Valuation and Projections or other Insurance processes; and, SAS Programming. Employer will accept any suitable combination of education, training, or experience. Remote work permitted within commuting distance.
