About our group:
Seagate Data Recovery Services is part of the Global Quality and Customer Service Organization. Our role in the company is to perform data recovery services for customers with issues stemming from data loss events on Seagate hardware. Today, we have 3 labs that provide this global service and are leaders in the Data Recovery Services Industry.
About the role - you will:
- Evaluate and determine if and how data can be recovered from a wide variety of recording and storage media
- Recover data from media with a wide variety of problems, including minor physical, electrical, and firmware problems
- Reverse engineer software and hardware
- Replace defective read/write recording head assemblies and transplant platters on defective hard drives
- Analyze and repair damaged file systems and deleted files.
- Prepare data return to clients on new storage media.
- Reverse engineering of firmware, file systems, and application structures, as well as hardware, the following knowledge is required:
- modern programming languages concepts
- real-time, operating system and microcontrollers software design concepts and architecture of the products
- electrical engineering design concepts.

Your experience includes:
- Reverse engineering of HDD and flash media firmware
- Strong knowledge of MS DOS, MS Windows, Apple Mac OS, UNIX, programming, scripting skills.
- Knowledge of firmware architecture and reverse engineering for storage industry
- Replacing defective HSA (head assemblies) and transplanting platters on damaged HDDs.
- Analyzing and repairing corrupted file systems such as FAT, NTFS, HFS, ExtFS, XFS and others
- Reverse engineering skills, strong critical thinking, scientific methodology, and analytical skills.
- Strong soldering skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering related field (i.,e Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Computer Engineering, Materials, Physics, or Information Technology) and 2+ years of experience. 2+ years of data recovery experience
You might also have:
- Experience with SATA/PATA, SCSI, USB, serial bus analysis
- Circuit design experience
