Data Operations Associates on the Greater China venture capital team focus on the collection of data publicly available from websites, news, and other sources. Associates work alongside other associates on several projects related to expanding coverage of the Greater China venture capital and private equity space. These projects span multiple teams within the Data Operations department, including company secondary data operations, investor secondary data operations, and sourcing operations. You will learn our proprietary data operations processes, including advanced Boolean search techniques and complex data entry using our in-house developed Research Tool Suite (RTS). You will also be involved in the crafting and refinement of our data operations processes and workflow operations.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
- Become proficient in one of PitchBook’s core data areas of operation: venture-backed companies and surrounding ecosystem entities using Boolean search techniques and publicly available sources to gain a full understanding of the investment landscape
- Enter data into PitchBook’s proprietary Research Tool Suite while adhering to complex research tracking methodologies to ensure that data is of the utmost quality
- Maintain a close eye for quality data and keep the interests of our clients in mind while you audit and build out venture-backed company profiles
- Monitor, study, and fully understand the venture capital and private equity landscapes in the Greater China region to bring changes and refinements to our research methodologies and processes
- Assist the investor and sourcing Data Operations teams to ensure a robust pipeline of quality work for the project team as needed
- Communicate effectively and efficiently with your team lead and other stakeholders across the Data Operations department to provide updates on project progress, address roadblocks, and celebrate wins
- Work with large, often unstructured, datasets to analyze team production and level of coverage for the Chinese venture capital dataset alongside your team lead
- Support the vision and values of the company by setting an example and demonstrating desired behaviors
- Participate in various company initiatives and projects as requested
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Economics, or equivalent work experience
- Self-motivated with an amazing attention to detail
- Analytical and process-oriented with a dedication to continuous improvement
- Focused with a high amount of mental stamina and the ability to research for long periods of time
- Ability to problem solve and use judgment to make decisions within ambiguous research situations
- Approach each task with an entrepreneurial spirit and intellectual curiosity
