Data Manager (Dr Trey Hedden's Lab) - Neurology

The primary responsibility for the position is technical data processing and analysis of clinical, behavioral, and neuroimaging data sets from cognitively normal older adults and patients with mild cognitive impairment, Alzheimer’s disease, and other neurodegenerative diseases.

The position will involve technical integration of databases to store and manage different data types; programming and development of automated processing pipelines for analysis of neuroimaging data (PET and MRI); coding statistical procedures for signal processing and image analysis, and serving as a technical resource and interface between researchers and the infrastructure provided by Scientific Computing at Mount Sinai. The direct supervisor is Dr. Trey Hedden, but the position offers exposure to multiple lab groups that employ different methodological techniques. The position requires a high degree of technical skill, programming ability, analytic expertise, motivation, and self-sufficiency.

• Perform advanced coding and programming to support image analysis, signal processing, and inferential statistics
• Create, update, maintain and validate data for the provision of computerized reports and analysis. Process, review, clean audit, and analyze data for compliance with standard operating procedures, and regulatory agency guidelines
• Reviews, analyzes, and validates data to ensure consistency, integrity and accuracy based on specific guidelines
• Develops study questionnaires. Analyze responses; develop plans to provide feedback
• Assists in standardizing technical data procedures to support departmental operating procedures
• Maintains documentation and guidelines for data quality assessment and analytic procedures
• Conducts advanced statistical analyses on imaging data
• Writes and prepares manuscripts, reports, and other materials for internal and external audiences
• Ensures data accuracy through review of case report forms or questionnaires for completeness and consistency
• Recognizes recurring issues and analyze causes in order to reach a solution. Generate plans and provide tools/techniques for improvement and to measure success
• Provides guidance appropriate training to staff. Coordinate activities required to meet quality standards
• Maintains knowledge of current regulations and technologies related to data processing and image analysis
• Performs other duties as assigned

• Bachelors Degree (Masters degree in related field preferred); Masters of Science in computer science, engineering, neuroscience, or a related field; candidates with other degrees will be considered with 4 years of progressive data management experience in an academic research setting
• 3 years of data management/quality assurance/experience in a healthcare environment is preferred, or less with demonstration of strong proficiency in a data-driven environment.
• Will be collaborative in nature and able to work across multiple participating groups
• Will be reliable, professional, and organized; will have an ability to translate technical skills into a research setting
• Will have expertise in statistical analysis, pipeline development, signal processing, and image analysis; will have proficiency with database computing such as SQL
• Will have expertise in Linux, shell scripting, and MATLAB
• Some familiarity with one or more of the following (R, SPM, FSL, FreeSurfer, MRI, PET)
• Interest in research on aging and Alzheimer’s disease is preferred
