The Data Strategy Manager is responsible for establishing, maintaining, and continuously improving the organization’s data governance framework. This role collaborates closely with data owners, consumers, and technology stakeholders to align business processes, IT architecture, and data usage strategies. The incumbent will assess data flows, identify risks, and implement initiatives that drive improvements in data quality, clarity, accountability, and ownership.
Additionally, the Data Strategy Manager supports the development and monitoring of metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of data risk management efforts, oversees the creation and maintenance of metadata repositories, and ensures compliance with internal standards. This position plays a key role in aligning data governance strategies with business objectives, leading enhancements to data infrastructure, and promoting organizational awareness through training on data risks and best practices. The Data Strategy Manager ensures that enterprise data systems are well-organized and effectively managed to support the organization’s operational and strategic goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Oversee and maintain data governance policies, processes, and standards to support a mature and sustainable data governance framework.
2. Collaborate with data owners, data consumers, and technology stakeholders to align on the business processes, IT architecture, data creation, and data usage.
3. Assess data flows and quality control mechanisms to identify high-risk areas and report on control weaknesses.
4. Drive continuous improvement initiatives by working with stakeholders to develop, test, and implement solutions that enhance data quality, clarity, accountability, and ownership.
5. Support the development and monitoring of metrics to measure the effectiveness, accuracy, and timeliness of data risk management activities.
6. Collaborate with business data stewards and SMEs to develop and maintain data dictionaries, metadata repositories, standards, and classification systems to ensure consistency and compliance.
7. Identify and document critical data assets used in key business processes.
8. Align data governance strategy with departmental objectives and strategic business requirements.
9. Gather and document business requirements related to future systems or workflow enhancements, aligning them with the data governance framework.
10. Maintain data management plans and provide operational guidance for complex systems and processes.
11. Lead the design, development, and enhancement of data infrastructure to streamline analysis and reporting efforts.
12. Ensure the organization’s data systems are well-organized, securely stored, and efficiently managed.
13. Promote data management awareness by supporting the development and delivery of training on data risks and processes.
14. Compliance with any and all BSA/AML/CFT and Sanctions requirements set forth by Bank Policy and Procedure, including but not limited to timely completion of assigned training.

The position performs duties specific to the position and other functions as assigned by management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
The position may be responsible for the supervision of all office employees and is expected to provide leadership, training and support to staff members.
ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
The incumbent is in a non-confined office setting in which they are free to move about at will. In the course of performing the duties and responsibilities of this position spends time writing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 25 pounds), sitting, typing on a computer keyboard, and standing, kneeling and reaching.
