The Data Engineer II will support the Data Engineering team in developing and maintaining data warehouse solutions using Microsoft technologies. This role involves collaborating with various stakeholders to understand data requirements and implementing effective data solutions. The Data Engineer II will work under the guidance of the Principal Data Engineer and contribute to the overall data strategy and architecture. This position will have experience with Microsoft technologies, including SQL Server, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, PowerShell, and Power BI.
Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Assist in the design, development, and deployment of data solutions using Microsoft technologies, including SQL Server, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, PowerShell, and Power BI.
- Implement and maintain ETL/ELT processes using Azure Data Factory and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).
- Support the development and maintenance of data warehouses and data lakes, ensuring data integrity and performance.
- Help develop and enforce data governance policies and best practices.
- Collaborate with data scientists, actuaries, analysts, and other business units to understand data requirements and translate them into effective data solutions.
- Optimize data storage and retrieval processes to ensure efficient data access and analysis.
- Assist in designing and implementing data models that align with business needs and best practices.
- Utilize GIT for version control to ensure code quality and collaboration.
- Stay updated on emerging trends and technologies in data engineering and business intelligence.
- Contribute to the documentation of data architectures, processes, and policies.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience in data engineering and ETL/ELT responsibilities using Microsoft technologies.
- Proficiency with SQL Server, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, PowerShell, and Power BI.
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts, data modeling techniques, and ETL/ELT processes.
- Understanding of data governance and data quality principles.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
- Good communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Microsoft certifications relating to SQL Server, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, PowerShell, and Power BI.
- Experience in commercial and personal Property and Casualty insurance.
- Property and Casualty insurance-related certifications.
