About the role

Meta is seeking a Chemical Engineer to join our Data Center Facilities Engineering (FacEng) team. As a key member of this team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation of our rapidly expanding global fleet of data centers, which serve as the foundation for our innovative services and infrastructure.

The FacEng team delivers proactive and responsive full-life-cycle engineering expertise to the teams who operate and support our data centers. Our data centers utilize adiabatic cooling processes with evaporative water systems that require careful chemical treatment for continued operation. As a Chemical Engineer on our team, you will have the opportunity to work with these advanced technologies and drive innovation in water utilization efficiency and performance.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the development and operation of our data centers, while working with a talented team of engineers and professionals who share your passion for innovation. We offer a dynamic and collaborative work environment that fosters creativity, innovation, and growth.

As Meta continues to expand its infrastructure globally, we are establishing many new regions across the US, and beyond. If you are a motivated and experienced Chemical Engineer looking for a challenging and rewarding career opportunity, we encourage you to apply.Data Center Facilities Engineering, Chemical Engineer Responsibilities
  • Lead technically complex Chemical engineering projects for the facilities
infrastructure operations team. This includes working cross functionally with
other technical organizations including design teams, construction, field
    operations, vendors and R&D.
  • Engineering point of escalation for Chemical system issues that occur in our data
    centers.

  • Conduct detailed analyses and audits of Chemical system utilization.
  • Develop effective measurements and reports from Building Management System (BMS) and other monitoring systems to optimize performance and reliability.
  • Evaluate systems to perform effective and efficient load management and capacity planning. Monitor, trend, and develop engineering metrics and statistical data for strategic planning.
  • Review new and retrofit Chemical designs, commissioning plans, and critical
    operational procedures.
  • Review Chemical "as-built" technical documentation and verify accuracy.
Investigate actual site conditions and update records.
  • Develop and generate specifications, RFPs, ROMs and SOWs for projects.
  • Evaluate facility processes and industry best practices to drive efficiencies and
    effectiveness.
  • Routinely report and present to peers, partners and leadership.
  • 10 to 30% travel to data center and vendor sites for engineering studies, on-site
technical support, Chemical systems audits, startup testing, and full
    commissioning.
