Data Center Consulting Engineer

11:11 Systems is looking for a Data Center Consulting Engineer (CE). The Data Center CE manages the delivery of Data Center design, build, migration, decommission and infrastructure transformation projects across a portfolio of clients. Responsibilities include revenue forecasting, project P&L management, resource planning and supervision, delivery quality and project management, and quoting. In addition to leading project delivery, this person serves as a subject matter expert in the sales, planning and delivery of IT Infrastructure Projects, developing approaches to develop and deliver projects within tight timeframes. This person would perform project scoping, estimation of levels of effort, prepare statements of work and financial / resource models for project delivery.

In addition to leading a portfolio of projects, they would support sales efforts and business development, functioning as a subject matter expert in understanding client requirements and qualifying opportunities.

The individual is expected to be a thought leader and should have a broad subject matter of Data Center Operational Functions, all aspects of Migrations, Budgeting and Cost Modeling, and PMI Project Management Methodology.

This is a full-time remote position that requires about 70% travel to various data centers. This position will report to the Senior Director of Consulting Operations and Financial Analysis.

Responsibilities

• Act as the day-to-day management interface to the client. This may include developing and reviewing deliverables, regular reporting on project status, meetings with executive management to present and discuss methodologies, capability status, strategies and findings related to the current project.

• Responsibilities will include: interface with Staffing Coordinator to ensure the proper staffing for project(s) which include both internal resourcing and third party vendors; managing and reporting on project profitability; ensure time and expenses are reported and approved in a timely fashion; ensure that the project timeline is followed; that deliverables meet stated objectives of the Statement of Work (SoW) for the engagement and have a thorough understanding of work effort estimation, letters of agreement, master service agreements, staffing model, average bill rates and cost structure by level.

Additional Responsibilities Include:

1. Providing thought leadership across one or more industries/sectors.
2. Maintain an awareness of technological and program advancements in the field of Data Center Design, Relocations and Decommissioning, and IT Transformation.

Work to drive new business development activity by:

• Responding to RFPs, developing pricing using standard tools and development of Statements of Work (SoWs).
• Working knowledge of all aspects of Data Center Design & Build, Assessments and Relocations with the ability to provide hands on support as needed.
• All other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of 10 to 12 years of IT consulting experience leading complex IT infrastructure transformation / migration projects with multiple work tracks for accounts with revenue of $250K+.
  
• Requires strong work management skills (time management, accounting, project completion, forecasting).
• Requires effective analytical and reasoning skills to plan, develop, implement, and integrate strategies, policies and objectives and carry out needs, risk and financial analyses.
• Excellent listening, speaking, writing, decision making, problem solving and presentation skills.
• May be required to travel extensively for periods of time on engagements (upwards of 75% of the time). Required to work through periods of time where they will be heavily engaged in viewing computer screens, reading and reviewing documentation or expected to lead intense work sessions that require high levels of concentration.
• May be required to work in Client allocated workspace (when onsite), so environmental conditions can be unpredictable and may present some additional challenges.
• Must be able to deal with personalities and work through issues to meet the requirements of the client. They may be onsite where they are required to think independently and strategically in support of a client’s needs.
