Group Exercise Instructor

OFF-SITE Position at Salemtowne Retirement Community:  YMCA at Salemtowne, an off-site extension of Fulton Family YMCA, is hiring part time group ex instructors!

We are seeking energetic and engaging instructors who hold multiple certifications (yoga, pilates, water aerobics, silver sneakers, personal training, etc.). Additionally, instructors should have strong communication skills and broad knowledge of exercise modifications to help expand the appeal of classroom exercise to individuals of all fitness levels and abilities.

Salemtowne is a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) where approximately 300 older adults, ages 62 to 100+, reside in Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care/Skilled Nursing. Group exercise instruction at Salemtowne is a unique opportunity to help older adults stay strong, flexible, and balanced. The instructor must be a strong relationship builder who will assist individuals reach their goals while having fun!

Classes occur Monday – Friday between 9 am and 3 pm, with occasional weekends / holidays for special events.

Appropriate certifications for classes taught
Other certifications as required by the Y 
CPR/FA/AED/02 (ASHI) required within 30 days of hire
Instructor experience preferred
Strong communication and social media skills
Knowledge and understanding of YMCA mission and philosophy preferred

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to demonstrate class exercises and stand or walk the majority of the class; the employee is frequently required to push, pull, balance, bend, twist, squat, kneel and reach; the employee must frequently lift and or move objects up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and or move objects up to 50 pounds. The employee is regularly required to see, hear and talk.  
The employee may be exposed to moving parts of exercise equipment and cleaning supplies (chemicals) for wiping down exercise equipment.
The work environment includes the wellness center, with some possible outdoor exposure during the workday. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, photocopiers and fax machines.
