Role Overview
The Superintendent in our commercial construction company is responsible for the day-to-day field supervision of commercial construction projects, ensuring work is performed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with contract documents and quality standards. This role provides on-site leadership, coordinates subcontractors and trades, and serves as the primary point of control for field operations on projects ranging from $1 million to $20 million.
Responsibilities
Field Operations and Site Leadership
Manage daily on-site construction activities from project start through completion.
Supervise and coordinate subcontractors, trades, and field personnel to maintain workflow and productivity.
Enforce job-site safety standards and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
Maintain overall site cleanliness, organization, and security.
Schedule and Productivity Management
Develop, maintain, and actively manage the project construction schedule in coordination with the Project Manager.
Plan and sequence work to ensure timely completion of project milestones.
Identify schedule risks and implement corrective actions to minimize delays.
Quality Control and Compliance
Ensure construction work is performed in accordance with contract documents, drawings, specifications, and applicable codes.
Conduct regular inspections of work in progress and completed work to ensure quality standards are met.
Coordinate inspections with owners, architects, engineers, and regulatory authorities.
Coordination and Communication
Lead daily and weekly job-site meetings with subcontractors and project stakeholders.
Communicate clearly and effectively with project managers, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and internal teams.
Document daily activities, progress, safety observations, and issues using company systems.
Documentation and Technology Use
Utilize construction management software, scheduling tools, and digital documentation systems.
Maintain accurate daily logs, schedules, punch lists, and field reports.
Review and support the resolution of field-related RFIs and change conditions in coordination with the Project Manager.
Requirements
Minimum of 3+ years of construction experience, with direct field supervision on commercial projects ranging from $1 million to $20 million.
Proven experience managing subcontractors and multiple trades on active construction sites.
Strong working knowledge of commercial construction methods, sequencing, and safety practices.
Computer literacy required, including the ability to use construction management and documentation software.
Strong written and oral communication skills required.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.

Salary: $120k - $130k annually
