Job Description Summary:

MaineGeneral is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Same Day Surgery/PACU team at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta. The Perianesthesia RN will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and effective care of patients undergoing surgical procedures.

Schedule: Per Diem

Shift:  Days/variable

Role: Perianesthesia Registered Nurse (RN)

Provides direct patient care to patients in the immediate preoperative, postoperative, or postprocedural period using the nursing process following applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.

What You'll Do:

  • Plans, implements, and evaluates patient care plans based on patient assessment to optimize outcomes and maximize available resources. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluate the learning needs of the patient and provide patient education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Effectively delegates patient care to ancillary personnel. May precept student nurses and new hires.

What You Bring:

  • Possess a current State of Maine RN license or the ability to obtain one promptly.
  • Demonstrate the ability to seek out resources independently and work collaboratively within a team.
  • At least one year of experience is preferred.
  • Strong assessment and IV skills.
  • Effective communication and critical thinking skills are essential for this role.
