About the role

An O’Reilly Auto Parts corporate accounting internship offers students the opportunity to gain valuable experience in and learn about non-public, industry accounting.  Interns will build upon their current skillsets to develop professionally by strengthening their soft skills while assisting with daily tasks and participating in intern program specific activities.

This internship has been established to run for the length of one school semester.  Generally, spring semester internships run from mid-January to early-May, summer internships run from late-May to early-August, and fall semester internships run from late-August to early-December.  The spring and fall internships require students to consistently work 22 hours per week (Monday – Friday) through the entirety of the semester, while the summer internship requires 35-40 hours per week (Monday – Friday).

HOW YOU'LL CONTRIBUTE

Assist with team’s day-to-day responsibilities.

Demonstrate excellent service to customers, vendors, and team members.

Follow team procedures and learn company databases.

Review, validate, and prepare data updates for entry.

Perform clerical duties and organize documents.

Fulfill customer requests provided by senior team members.

Scan and index files to meet record retention requirements.

Provide suggestions and opportunities for process improvements.

Attend team and department meetings, including observation of a budget to actual meeting.

Shadow a staff accountant.

Participate in team building activities.

Meet with department leaders and engage with corporate accounting and tax team members.

Listen to quarterly earnings calls.

All other ad hoc tasks and projects, as assigned.
