The Team: The Global Quality Systems (GQS) Team manages quality systems across Mattel. The team is responsible for system administration, system development, training, user support, and organizational change management. The team works with leaders in the Global Quality, Safety, Regulations, and Compliance organization to ensure that all quality systems meet the business needs. Objectives are to ensure systems meet the current and future needs of the business, are being fully utilized, processes are aligned, and users are trained and supported across Mattel. These systems help to ensure that Mattel develops, manufactures, and ships quality products that are safe and regulatory compliant. This team has been developed as Mattel embarks on a path of digital transformation for the Quality, Safety, Regulations, and Compliance organization.

Job Description

The Opportunity: 

Mattel is currently seeking a Lead Quality Systems Engineer/ Solutions Architect, El Segundo, CA.

In this position you will be part of the Global Quality Systems (GQS) technical team. In this position, you will collaborate with the GQS Training/Organizational Communication team, the Global Technology Organization (GTO), system vendors, and business stakeholders.

This position reports to the Head of Global Quality Systems.

The technical team is responsible for planning, project management, solutioning, implementation, and ongoing support of various quality systems.  

What Your Impact Will Be: 

​​​​​​​Joining the Team, you will have a significant impact on the digital transformation for the Quality, Safety, Regulations, and Compliance organization. In this position, you will:

  • Solution Architect for the Enterprise Quality Management System (EQMS), Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), and other quality systems.
  • Lead projects for the Global Quality System’s technical team.
  • Lead requirements and design discussion with business stakeholders and Information Technology partners
  • Leads business management, GTO, and system vendors: to develop new solutions and applications.
  • Collaborate with GTO and system vendors to prevent and resolve system issues.
  • Provides technical oversite from a business perspective helping to scope and provide direction of solutions for enhancements and changes.
  • Provides advanced configurations and customizations.
  • Manage system vendors and GTO to resolve systems issues and maintain systems in place.
  • Be able to demonstrate the primary features and functionalities of an application and how it works and communicates impact to the business process stakeholders.
  • Address and resolve user issues as they relate to system configuration and permissions.
  • Provide business project management for the implementation of projects, enhancements, and changes.
  • Perform the necessary system configuration, testing, and UAT for projects, enhancements, and changes.
  • Works closely with the OCM and training team to ensure they have a full understanding of all changes and enhancements, as well as general system functionality.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For: 

  • Demonstrated a growth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.
  • 10+ years systems engineering experience
  • 3-5 years Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) experience
  • Technical bachelor’s degree or equivalent: Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology.
  • Strong communication skills (in person and virtual), must be comfortable with leading meetings, discussions, and training sessions.
  • Must be comfortable with being on camera during virtual meetings and training sessions.
  • 5 to 6 years experience in system configuration.
  • 5 to 6 years experience in project management.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to participate in meetings and calls outside of normal working hours (late night or early morning).
  • Ability to travel as needed (approximately 10% travel)
