The VP of Technology Market Intelligence is a senior leadership role responsible for driving strategic insight and innovation in a rapidly evolving technology landscape. This position plays a critical role in benchmarking the company’s technology stack, shaping technology strategy in partnership with the CIO and product leaders, guiding innovation initiatives, and delivering actionable insights on technology trends, competitor strategies, and industry shifts. The role combines deep analytical expertise with strategic influence, supporting executive decision making and enhancing the company’s position in the technology marketplace.
Key Responsibilities
- Market and Competitive Analysis:
- Continuously monitor global technology trends, emerging players, and disruptive innovations across domains such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, blockchain, cybersecurity, and fintech.
- Conduct in-depth competitor analysis to understand strategies, technology adoption, product launches, and market positioning.
- Identify industry shifts and assess their impact on the company’s strategic direction.
- Innovation Research and Prototyping:
- Lead research into new and emerging technologies, evaluating their potential business impact and strategic fit.
- Scan the off-the-shelf, AI-driven product landscape to assess functionality, maturity, and alignment to internal business use cases.
- Build and maintain relationships with analysts, vendors, startups, and research firms to ensure continuous awareness of technology shifts.
- Develop proof of concept prototypes to demonstrate the value and feasibility of innovative solutions.
- Innovation Culture & Enablement:
- Lead “Art of the Possible” sessions across the enterprise to inspire ideation and demonstrate the practical impact of emerging technologies.
- Conduct technology “brown bag” educational sessions to increase organizational literacy in AI, data, and digital innovation.
- Deliver regular executive briefings and presentations on market intelligence, technology trends, and competitive insights.
- Technology Benchmarking and Roadmap Assessment:
- Benchmark the company’s technology stack and product roadmap against industry standards and leading competitors.
- Provide recommendations to enhance technology capabilities and close gaps in innovation and execution.
- Establish dashboards, KPIs, and reporting on technology adoption, competitor launches, and innovation ROI.
- Strategy Alignment and Executive Partnership:
- Collaborate closely with the CIO and other IT and product leadership to ensure technology strategy aligns with organizational goals.
- Support the development and refinement of technology vision, priorities, and investment plans.
- External Communications and Industry Engagement:
- Manage relationships with industry analysts, technology partners, and external research firms to enhance the company’s market intelligence capabilities.
- Contribute to white papers, press releases, and other external communications that reinforce the company’s position as an innovation leader.
- Drive senior technology and operations leaders’ active presence in top industry forums, conferences, and peer networks to amplify organizational visibility, influence and insight.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in technology market analysis, competitive intelligence, or strategy roles within the technology sector.
- Demonstrated expertise in monitoring and analyzing disruptive technologies (AI, cloud, blockchain, cybersecurity, fintech, etc.).
- Strong background in benchmarking technology stacks and roadmaps.
- Proven ability to synthesize complex data and present actionable recommendations to executive leadership.
- Experience building and utilizing dashboards, KPIs, and data visualization tools.
- Exceptional storytelling through written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with executive communications, thought leadership, and content development.
- Strong understanding of emerging technologies and their impact on business strategy.
- Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills, with experience in developing presentations for senior leadership and external stakeholders.
