Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic individual to join our team as the VP, Program Lead. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the strategic planning, development, and execution of our gene and cell therapy programs. Your matrixed leadership of the cross-functional teams will identify new opportunities and ensure the successful delivery of our programs. This leadership role requires a deep understanding of the gene and cell therapy landscape, strong business acumen, and excellent communication skills. This position will report to the Chief Medical Officer and it will be based out of our Headquarters in Cambridge, Ma.
Key Responsibilities:
Platform Strategy and Leadership:
- Integrate two platform technologies into a single technology program driving toward the clinic
- Provide strong leadership to cross-functional teams and foster a collaborative and innovative culture
- Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for innovation and competitive advantage
- Lead with an inclusive and collaborative approach that blends agile progress toward goals within a respectful environment
Program Development Oversight:
- Lead the design, planning, and execution of platform-based cell and gene therapy programs
- Collaborate with R&D, Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, and other relevant functions to ensure successful program development from preclinical through clinical stages
- Drive the development of program-specific strategies, including timelines, budgets, and milestones
Cross-functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with the executive leadership team to integrate platform strategies into the overall corporate strategy
- Foster strong partnerships with external collaborators, including academic institutions, research organizations, and industry partners
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure that all platform development activities adhere to regulatory guidelines and industry best practices
- Collaborate with Regulatory Affairs to prepare and submit necessary regulatory documentation
- Resource Allocation and Budget Management:

- Identify opportunities for cost optimization and risk mitigation

Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent) in a relevant scientific discipline
- Minimum of 12+ years of experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry, with a focus on gene and cell therapy
- Proven track record of successfully leading and managing gene and cell therapy programs from Early-stage Development through IND and Commercialization
- Strong understanding of the gene therapy landscape (cell therapy a plus), including regulatory requirements, manufacturing processes, and clinical development
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire cross-functional teams
- Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a demonstrated ability to drive innovation and identify new opportunities
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex scientific concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
