About the role
The physician provides assessment, evaluation, planning, and treatment aligned with evidence-based guidelines and performs at their specialty's highest professional standards of clinical practice. The physician collaborates with external referring physicians to provide continuous care and assist patients with appropriate treatment and follow-up as clinically indicated.

- Conducts routine clinical evaluations of patients to assess their health condition and discover possible issues. Asks intuitive questions to discover causes of illness. Performs examinations of ill patients and evaluates symptoms to determine their condition. Cultivates a climate of trust and compassion for patients. (15%)
- Reaches an informed diagnosis based on scientific knowledge and the patient?s medical history. (10%)
- Gives appropriate advice for healthy habits and preventative actions to promote overall health. (10%)
- Orders and interprets lab tests to obtain more information for underlying conditions or abnormalities. Prescribes medications or drugs and provides comprehensive instructions for administration. (10%)
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with other specialists, providers and physicians at outside facilities caring for patients including hospitals, clinics, urgent cares and emergency departments to facilitate care or transfer of patients when appropriate. (10%)
- Examines and provides appropriate treatment within their specialty and refers patients to other physicians when needed. (20%)
- Completes charting and documentation to maintain records of patients? clinical status and appropriately documents diagnosis, treatment, or other significant information (e.g. allergic episodes) for the facilitation of patient care by the care team and for appropriate coding and billing. (15%)
- Supports the development and implementation of new clinical initiatives. Remains up to speed with developments and best practices in medicine by attending conferences and seminars. Attends department and medical group-wide meetings and activities. (10%)
LEVEL OF EDUCATION
Minimum:
- Doctor of Medicine degree (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree (DO). Board Certified or Board Eligible in the physician's associated specialty.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Minimum:
- Physician's unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of California. Must meet all requirements for membership and unrestricted clinical privileges of the CH Medical Staff. Valid Drug Enforcement Agency license - DEA Schedule 2-5. American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) within 45 days.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
Minimum:
- Strong understanding of examination methodologies and diagnostics. Broad knowledge of common medication, side effects, and contraindications. In-depth knowledge of legal medical guidelines and medicine best practices.
